I am genuinely anxious about dentists. How is that handled?
Tell us when you request the appointment and we book a longer slot with no treatment planned. The first visit can be a conversation with the chair upright if that is what you need. We use an agreed hand signal to stop, explain each instrument before it is used, and never continue through a raised hand.
At what age should children have their first appointment?
As soon as the first teeth appear, mainly so the room stops being unfamiliar. Early visits are a look, a count and a sticker. Children are booked into quieter parts of the day, and it helps if they have watched an adult have a check-up first.
How often do I actually need a hygiene appointment?
It depends on gum health, not on a calendar rule. Many people are comfortable at six-monthly intervals, some need three to four months while gum inflammation settles, and others do well annually. We set an interval after seeing your gum measurements and revisit it each year rather than fixing it permanently.
Something hurts today — what should I do?
Send the request form marked as urgent and describe the symptom, when it started and what makes it worse. Urgent cases are triaged ahead of routine bookings for a same-week assessment. If there is facial swelling, difficulty swallowing or a knocked-out adult tooth, seek immediate medical care rather than waiting for a reply.
Should I whiten before or after aligners?
After, in almost every case. Moving teeth first means the newly exposed surfaces whiten evenly, and the aligner retainer can double as a whitening tray afterwards. Whitening before alignment often leaves faint shade lines where the teeth previously overlapped.
Can you get my records from my old practice?
Yes. Give us the practice name in the request form and we will send a written request for your notes and recent radiographs with your consent. It saves repeating images unnecessarily, though we will still carry out our own examination.
What happens if I need to cancel or rearrange?
Let us know as early as you can and we will move you to the next suitable slot. Longer treatment appointments are the hardest to refill, so we ask for as much notice as possible on those. Short-notice changes happen; we would rather rearrange than have you skip the visit.
